THINGS I'M ALWAYS UP FOR THREADING

→ found family of any amalgamation (adults 'adopting' this half-feral well-meaning delinquent, okuyasu finding his own inner big bro and taking a younger kid under his wing, sibling-esque protective bonding, etc)
→ exploring some of the darker themes of okuyasu's backstory; he was physically abused by his dad from a young age until about four, when his father instead mutated into a...creature...(it's complicated), at which point okuyasu's brother keicho began raising him. keicho was also verbally and physically abusive towards okuyasu. okuyasu has been encouraged to fight, kill, and exploit others, and was told that he was stupid and weak (and that this meant he deserved to die) by his brother. his brother also enlisted okuyasu's help in the never-ending search for someone strong enough to kill their creature-like, now-immortal father who they dragged along with them (it's...it's complicated, guys). this abruptly ends when keicho is [spoilers] killed in front of okuyasu, leaving okuyasu the sole provider for his immortal but helpless dad-creature and now the only surviving, sane member of his family. so like. PLENTY to unpack in there.
→ soft moments of vulnerability bc he is a rough-edged teenage boy who also wears his heart on his sleeve and could prob use a hug or five
→ awkward bad arguments and fights
→ the aftermath and repair of awkward bad arguments and fights
→ realistic clashing of personalities/life experience
